Ryder's Birth Story
01 :: 04 :: 2017
What an honor it is to be invited into a mother's birth space. Again, I got to witness a very beautiful birth.
I first met this mama at her maternity session and grew to know her story and personality. She is very open, honest and the type of woman who is an instant friend to anyone she meets. Her story of grief and heartache before this pregancy is one many familys have to face, often in silence. I am included in these statistics. Rita never stopped trying. This baby is her rainbow baby. "After six years of hardships with my rare illness and five miscarriages, I was able to have him despite the difficult circumstances." This mother pushed her baby over the rainbow- as she mentioned during her labor. Her words stuck with me through the rest of the session. Her faith in her own body's abilities and the support of her partner Ryan, the amazing midwife Kristi Rhodes and the nursing staff got her the birth experience she longed for. Her strength was clearly visible as she found her rhythm and sang down her baby boy into her arms.
This wonderful family is willing to share their birth story with the world. A great deal of these images are shot in almost total darkness as to give the naturally laboring mother her desired birth atmosphere. Hidden in these moments are true, raw emotions- something this mama really wanted to capture. Enjoy!
